shoppingThe closest and probably the nicest shopping is at the Shops of Walea, south about half an hour toward Wailea. Lots of higher end shops, but also some “normal” ones. In Kahului, the Ka’ahumanu Shopping Centre is fairly decent, with Macey’s and several smaller shops within. There are many little “joints” for shopping in the Kihei area, which are fun, including a large area down toward Kalama Park.

Phone: 808-879-0004 Three’s Bar & Grill Nice food and presentations. 1945 S. Kihei Road (Kihei Kalama Village) haleakala crater sunriseAlthough waking up at 3:00am can be a rough way to start the day when you’re on holiday, we highly recommend catching a sunrise during your stay in Maui. From Haleakala (which translates to House of the sun), the view is sensational– a contender to the beautiful sunsets at HKOK! Seeing the sunrise above the clouds is a magical experience... As put on the official website, The trek to Haleakala at sunrise is a defining moment for any Maui visitor. New Age spiritualists believe it holds cosmic significance. One of Maui’s biggest fans, Mark Twain, called the experience "the sublimest spectacle" of his life. And you’re complaining about missing some shut-eye? ;-)
Tip: If you go before sunrise, bring a jacket! Dressing in layers is best. In one day, temperatures can vary as much as 50 degrees from the crater floor to the summit. SERIOUSLY... it’s cold up there. Wearing layers is highly recommended!! Road to hanaThe Road to Hana is world famous for the natural beauty of its unblemished landscapes and towering waterfalls. Maui is understandably proud of Heavenly Hana's successful fight against overdevelopment and the destruction of their Hawaiian culture. When you make the trip over to Hana Maui, you'll see why it's referred to as The Land That Time Forgot.
You can find a “Road to Hana” guided tour CD-ROM in both 107 & 308 to borrow with our compliments. Enjoy! You can find further information on this scenic drive on the Maui Information Guide located here: http://www.mauiinformationguide.com/road-to-hana.php upcountry mauiPaia Town
Fun to head up to Paia town, a fun little “hippy-ville” place with some neat shops and fun little restaurants. Mana grocery store is an interesting place! It’s great to head up to Ho’okipa Beach and watch the surfers and para-gliders, etc. We then enjoy the upcountry drive from Paia to Makawao .. and just poking around the funky little shops. |
